With
V-day around the corner I said to my boyfriend lets celebrate early,
don't get me wrong I love romance but going to a fancy restaurant on the
14th makes be feel a bit overwhelmed, when it's couple overload (I'm not a cynic promise!) So with that in mind, last night we headed towards Canary Wharf to dine at Plateau. This
financial district of London is usually heaving with city workers
during the week but on the weekend it's the perfect chilled out vibe,
not too touristy and good selection of restaurants. Plateau overlooked
the ink rink at Canary Wharf and the trees were still lit up - so
pretty!
The restaurant vibe and decor is my kind of place, modern and cosy with chrome lamps and bright flowers. There was definitely an air of celebration with birthdays and parties going on. The service is spot on, greeted by so many of the staff when you arrive and you can't fault their attentiveness throughout the evening.
If you love French food with a modern twist then you'll enjoy what the chefs had to offer. We opted for the poached ham and duck liver and pumpkin soup to start off with, both very nice and tasty. For mains, I had the braised daube of beef, which was nice but very rich for me. My boyfriend had the belly pork, which was nice and light with the cabbage and mash. We just had enough room left for dessert, choosing the coffee cake and cream anglaise, delish.
From the service to the food and the view, Plateau is great for friends
and dates in exceptional surroundings. Pop by - you won't be
disappointed! We
went for a stroll through Canary Wharf, not before stumbling a cross a
film set with NYPD cars - you got to love the unexpected!
