Onto the restaurant! Quaglino's is an European Brassiere and seafood specialist with amazing iconic art decor inside, sweeping staircase and live music and bar in the evenings - perfect for a Saturday night! I've been to a few nice restaurants in London but the decor and vibe at Quaglino's was pretty grand in a great Gatsby way, I loved it - I was expecting Leonardo DiCaprio to pop up behind the bar! The staff from the cloakroom attendant, hostess and waiters were extremely attentive and friendly, one even escorting me to the bathroom!
We chose from the 3 course set menu which was a steal at £30 pp (limited time in January) including a glass of Chandon Brut or mocktail. As I'm attempting to have a dry January I opted for the fruity mocktail, which was fresh and tasty.
We chose the braised pork cheek and egg and ham with tomato fondue for our starters, then had the confit duck leg and wild red deer. For dessert I chose one of my favourite creme brulee and Hang went for the blackberry panna cotta. The meal was nicely presented, good portions and interesting flavours but didn't blow our socks off to be honest!
We had a great evening and loved the buzzy vibe, there's a bar upstairs where you can grab a few cocktails before heading downstairs for dinner. They also have live music on their stage, so be sure to check out their events calender to see who will be performing! I would recommend Quaglino's for a fun night out in gorgeous and opulent surroundings, our particular meal may not have blown us away but the service is top notch.
