THOUGHTS ON #FRIENDSHIPGOALS

I'm all about goals, hell that's what my Pinterest boards are all about! Desk goals, travel goals, work goals but another important goal for me is the relationships I have around me. Whether you're a fan of Taylor Swift squad goals or like to fly solo, everyone experiences different levels of friendship. I've broken up with friends, made unexpected friends and met friends online - thing I love about blogging :) I was that girl with the Best Friend half heart necklace and now my childhood friend and I don't talk but that's life. Being friends with someone is not just a title, here are my thoughts on realistic #friendshipGoals.

I always wanted to be popular and cool in school but I naturally was very shy and timid. I thought I should stay out late with the cool kids and I would be cool. Thankfully I realised I like being introverted and meeting like minded people. I stopped trying to be someone I'm not and found friends who accepts me for who I am, flaws and all :)

We can't be the same person we were 5, 10, 15 years ago. Sometimes we hold onto friendships for nostalgic and sentimental reasons but sometimes we just grow out of these friendships. You don't share the same values, interests or that spark or joy that keeps you together just goes. Some friendships grow apart it's ok to move on.

I truly believe in surrounding yourself with people that make you feel good, lift your spirits and have a positive impact in your life. Life's too short to be with people that bring you down or don't have your best interests at heart. I always like to be a positive person in my friends lives. Who doesn't want to be the reason that someone feels happy rather than a negative Nancy right?

For me friendship is about being there for each other through the good times and bad, not just when it suits that person. You don't have to call each other everyday but having that mutual understanding you can count on each other. Know your value, don't sell yourself short or settle for something you don't feel right about. I really lacked self confidence in my early twenties and had 'friends' who would bring me down, luckily I realised you can choose who you hang out with!

Like with any relationships you find that fit and it just feels right. People come in and out of your life but it's who you choose to share your experiences with, that makes the difference. What are your thoughts on friendships? Have your friendship groups changed over the years?
